Super Sugoii announced on Facebook on Friday that Manga Planet India, Kodansha, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are collaborating on the Manga Shakti Project. Manga Planet India will provide the participants of the research project with seven free manga titles during the course of the project and participants will also have a chance to win a one-month subscription to read Kodansha manga titles on Manga Planet India.

The project will accept 3000 participants through its website. Participants will have to fill out two questionnaires and read seven manga titles provided to them free-of-charge. The company states that participants who are not provided with manga titles as part of the research project will still be eligible to win the subscription to read Manga Planet India provided they fill out both questionnaires.

Manga Planet India states that Manga Shakti is a research project related to Japanese Manga and Social Challenges in India. The company describes the research project:

Manga, a style of Japanese comic books, is a tool for communication, and its stories can also motivate people in their lives. The project is being undertaken by Kodansha Ltd., a leading publication house in Japan, and Manga Planet India, bringing officially licensed Japanese Manga to the Indian audience. It is also supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a Japanese government agency.

The Super Sugoii Con virtual event hosted Manga Planet's President Hiroki Kurihara, Editor-in-Chief Emma Hanashiro, and Producer Gladys Angala in September 2020.

Manga Planet is a manga subscription service that launched in November 2019 and offers subscribers access to English-translated manga. The company is working with publishers Bunkasha Publishing Co., Ltd.; Kaiohsha Publishing Co., Ltd.; Wani Books Co., Ltd.; Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co., Ltd.; Shodensha Publishing Co., Ltd.; Home-sha, Starts Publishing Corporation, K.K. HarperCollins Japan, and MugenUp Inc. The company is also working with individual artists such as Masaya Hokazono.

Manga Planet started as a joint project between Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. and Fantasista, Inc. in 2012. The companies' goal with Manga Planet is to "[bring] new manga to fans from all over the world and support artists and the industry."
