NISA Previews Ys VIII Game's Updated Localization in Video

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New patch slated for early 2018

NIS America began streaming a video on Thursday that previews a scene showing some of the new localization that will be implemented in its release of the Ys VIII PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game in an upcoming patch.

The free patch is under development to address concerns regarding the localization quality of the game. NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita previously apologized for quality that "has not reached an acceptable level." Yamashita also noted that the company is investigating the causes of the issues with the initial localization so that "a similar situation does not occur again."

The patch is slated for early 2018 after a delay. The staff have rewritten "nearly 100%" of the script and will be "re-recording nearly everything" with the same cast. Battle lines and some incidentals will remain from the first recording.

Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan on May 25 and NIS America released the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe. The game will also get a PC release but it has been delayed to coincide with the release of the patch.
