Tsukiuta Stage Play Cancels Merchandise, Same-Day Ticket Sales After Receiving Threat
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official Twitter account for the stage adaptation of the Tsukiuta franchise announced on Tuesday that the production received a threat note, which promised harm to fans if the production was not stopped. As a result, the production is cancelling the sales of all merchandise and same-day tickets for the remaining performances of the play from Tuesday to Friday. The final performances themselves will still take place as scheduled.
The performance venues will also conduct bag searches and will have reinforced security both inside and outside the venue with police and guards.
The remaining merchandise, that the production was planning to offer during the final performances, will be offered at a later date. The production is also offering refunds to ticket-holders.
The play is scheduled for one performance each on Tuesday and Wednesday, and two performances each for Thursday and Friday.
The play's "Black" version, which stars the Six Gravity group, ran at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi from October 11 to 15. The "White" version, which stars the Procellarum group, is currently running.
The first stage play ran in April 2016, and the second and third stage plays ran in March in "Black" and "White" versions.
The franchise already inspired vocal music CDs, duet CDs, drama CDs, a DVD of a fan festival with the cast, and an artbook. The franchise inspired a television anime in July 2016. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.
The franchise has both a male version and a female version. The male version centers around the Tokyo idol unit Six Gravity (composed of characters representing December to May) and the sibling rival unit Procellarum (composed of idols born in Western Japan and representing June to November).
