3-episode series to stream for limited time

The official YouTube channel for the Girl Friend franchise began streaming the first episode on Saturday for the Girl Friend Note (Girl Friend (♪), read as "onpu") web anime series based on the 3D rhythm game of the same name.

The anime has a total of three episodes, with each episode being around eight-minutes long. The three episodes are already streaming on dAnime Store, and the YouTube channel will add a new episode each Saturday. The first episode on YouTube is only available until November 22.

In the anime's story, the group "nonet" ends up working on a play with the group "Ōtori" from the Ōtori Song Academy. The play is Cinderella, but with a special twist. Momoko Asahina will play Cinerella, Miyabi Kunishiro will play the prince, and Kokomi Shiina will play an unexpected role.

Daisuke Tsukushi (episode director for AKB0048, Maria Watches Over Us) is directing the anime at Encourage Films. Michiko Yokote (ReLIFE, Mr. Osomatsu) is writing the scripts, and Sakae Shibuya (Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season) is adapting QP:flapper's original character designs for animation and serving as chief animation director. Nonet performs the opening theme song "Now On Stage!!" and Neuron Cream Soft performs the ending theme song "HAJI Kete Synapse Cinnamon Roll."

The web anime is part of a three-part summer project. The other parts the project featured an election from August 21 to September 22, and a collaboration event between the Girl Friend BETA and Puella Magi Madoka Magica from August 11-21. The collaboration brought the main characters from Madoka Magica into the Girl Friend BETA game.

Cyber Agent's blogging website Ameba started service for the original Girl Friend BETA dating simulation game for smartphones in 2012, and the number of registered users has passed 6.5 million. The game features more than 100 girls for the player to date, each voiced by a different voice actress. The Girl Friend Note rhythm game launched for smartphones in December 2015.

A television anime adaptation of Girl Friend BETA premiered in October 2014 and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The Girl Friend BETA: Kimi to Sogosu Natsu Yasumi PlayStation Vita game shipped in November 2015
