He just needs to learn how to prioritize. Instead of ordering the dismemberment of journalists or the house arrests of family members, he could focus on saving video games.
In all seriousness though, I'll be curious to see what caused the ban this time.

XVI is going to be the M rated dark Final Fantasy so it's probably is too violent for them. A lot of games with extreme violence or nudity get censored or banned there. Or maybe it's because of the depiction of certain Middle Eastern culturess like the djinns and they find it offensive. I remember Ocarina of Time got in trouble for using an Islamic symbol and hymm in the game back in the day.

If you're going off that one news article that was a joke that cites a now deleted Reddit post that cites a Tweet that never mentioned a "hardcore gay sex scene". Someone was most likely trolling and some news outlets fell for it.

Part of localization is understanding that sometimes things need to be changed to fit the new target audience or a different country's moral and cultural standards. It's a natural part of the process. At least that's what translators here say when people complain about changes made in English versions, but I'm assuming it applies to other countries as well.

I bet that at least part of the reason is related to the protagonist transforming into Ifrit, which originates in Islamic culture, and is a demon.

Previously, Type-0 was rated M, but was a very mild M with only a few fairly violent moments. XIV has pushed its T rating with some disturbing imagery and dismemberment. However, XVI appears it's going to kick things up several notches in every way.

I’d put money on it being the (straight) sex scene mentioned in the article. I recall Saudi Arabia being pretty not chill with even vaguely sexualized media. Heck, they might even be mad that it’s the lady on top, who knows.

There are leaks confirming that it's because of a LGBT character.
