On the 24th Michelle Marie also announced she won't reprise her role.

What a shame, although at least it was more of a scheduling and technical issues based on their comments. Sean even said that he's willing to do the role again for the home video release.

What is the “anything public that has transpired over the past week” that Sean says has no connection to this?

Sad reality is that VA replacement is a constant thing. Don't tag a new VA to harass them about the changes.

Kind of takes the wind out of the sails of them getting the original game cast back when they're suddenly recasting people, even if it can't be helped (even if no one is getting really into the circumstances behind it).

I don't think it was a union issue otherwise they wouldn't have joined the cast to begin with, although maybe the union called foul for them being involved in a non-union dub? I dunno.

Remember that this was recorded at Okatron, were they have different rules than the in-house CR studio. Must be a scheduliing issue.

Really have to wonder what happened that three confirmed roles had to suddenly be recast like that? Definitely kind of strange, but nice to see they're all throwing their support behind the new actors.

They probably have to put the dub on hold until the game is released this year so that they can comeback to voice the characters again

That wouldn't happen since Crunchyroll licensed the anime and have nothing to do with the release of the game. Funimation and now Crunchyroll have also increasingly shown that (1) they don't care about reprisals from other non-Texas dubs and (2) literally nothing about the actors circumstances can stop them from releasing their simuldubs.

Pretty sure you hit the nail on the head. It's been a domino effect from the moment Chiplock said he wouldn't be reprising, and they all use the exact same "it just didn't work out" verbiage. I think they're joining Kyle McCarley in taking a stand.

Are the dubs for the games even unionized? I remember the XSEED releases didn't have voice actor credits, which is a confirmation that at least the first two Cold Steel games weren't.
