weirdly compelling
Strange way to spell unparalleled soporific. Daga Shikashi's the only show that's ever managed to legitimately bore me to sleep, and that includes god knows how many shitty isekais and LN adaptations.

This has been my fav this season hands down. Being a huge fan of the manga I'm really looking forward to spoiler[Nazuna's backstory] and that whole arc. I'm hoping they can get to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the cliffhanger for a second cour, (fingers and toes crossed).

Adapting at 3 episodes per volume has been a perfect pace. So Episode 12 should adapt the last part of Volume 4 spoiler[ The introduction of the Vampire killing detective ] unless they extend the maid cafe arc with extra fan-service

Even if this gets a second season/cour it's still only likely to get to the end of Volume 8 - unless they spin-out Naz's backstory as an OVA which could enable more material to be covered with less episodes.

It's still one of the top shows for me this season even though its a pretty slow burner.

Insomnia would be way better if it meant I could explore fantastic nightscapes and explore alternate fetishes instead of being bed-bound with my head and body hurting like hell and knowing that the longer it continued the more it would hurt the next day, and having to structure my entire life around trying to minimize it (to little success)

Insomnia power fantasy?

This show has got to have set a record for 'most appealing night scenery ever'. Liden Films really did an amazing job. The manga panels look very plain compared to this!

...and yeah...just TRY to find an anime vampire MC who

*Isn't drop dead gorgeous
or
*Doesn't dress in sexy/stylish clothes

....they just don't EXIST, I tell you. Laughing and for very good reason too.

Being sexy is just part of the vampire/creature of the night's seduction techniques for their victims. Can't draw 'em in if you're too scary to them, right? So YA GOTTA BE HOT. Cool

It's a very simple formula.

And we love it.

I'm with you on that. Anime catgrin + sweatdrop

I normally don't have that much insomnia....but on nights where I foolishly choose to stay awake til dawn, I get the absolute worst headache the next day.

If one chose to be nocturnal and got into the regular routine of sleeping a healthy amount of hours during the day, you could likely make it work. After all, people with nighttime jobs have that life-style.

My problem is closer to hypersomnia.. I can sleep eternally if I wanted. On my nights off I sleep 2 or 3 times in 3 to 5 hour spurts.

Have you gotten that checked out by a doctor? You might be anemic...because I was the same way so now I take vitamins with iron. Basically, I wasn't getting enough of it. It makes you very tired if so. Confused I was getting a good 8 or 9 hours but still falling asleep for at least two hours during the day. Not very normal lol

You could also eat spinach like Popeye....but I prefer the iron vitamins. Laughing

Dagashi Kashi was nice, and has compelling characters, even if it was bit boring sometimes, plus I did learn a ton about those sweets which is always cool piece of (slowly diminishing) culture of another place, but Call of the Night keeps the cool characters while having great mood and interesting stories, and like Steve wrote, we're yet to meet the best character with most interesting story to tell. I hope it'll get the second season so we can see it told properly.

I've seen some rankings where this anime isn't very popular, and manga sales apparently didn't increase, but on the other series it seems very well received, at least in the western anime forums I've seen. Does anyone know how well it fares? It would suck, and not in a good way, if series flopped and we're left with just the appetizer, even if it's a tasty one.

@ a Bear

I guess it's doing okay so far...but it probably depends on how well the Blurays sell.

Dagashi Kashi got another season so I think the odds are good.
