I mean, it may be region locked, but that doesn't change the fact that my sister plays iDOLM@STER SideM (on iOS no less) and my friends play the Japanese version of Love Live! school idol festival while still downloading them from the official stores.

VPNs are your friends. (they didn't need it for those but that's what you'd need for Steam)

Its always been the case with this series, dozens of television, book and manga rights held by different companies in different countries and music rights with similar issues. Its why they created a spinoff solely using their own IP to allow an international release.

Its kind of like if there was a Super Smash Brothers but it wasn't just Nintendo characters but those belonging to dozens of other publishers featured and they tried to release that internationally,

I already have the physical release its a pretty decent game. Kinda sucks for those wanting to experience this series in English on the PC.

Too many series and too many different copyrights makes it real impossible to release this franchise overseas unless its one of Bamco's original SRW works. I have two games in Japanese only and they're pretty easy to play without knowing what is going on all you need is basic understanding of the plot from each mecha series which is usually mostly filled with Go Nagai and Gundam works with a couple thrown in fresh series like Macross,Cross Ange,Code Geass,Full Metal Panic,etc.... most series I have seen or understand the plot to a bare minimum thanks to V and X.

If people like Fire Emblem gameplay and strategy, but with Robots and Battleships then I would recommend trying the franchise even the Japanese only games.

I wish i could do that, the way laws on video games are structured and other media sucks for global consumers.
