I'm kinda excited about this. I liked the changes from Toukiden Kiwami to Toukiden 2 in a more "open world" (which expanded as the game went on).

I should point out that I have not played the Toukiden games, but I have been playing Dynasty Warriors since DW5:E. If my memory serves me right, they added the ability to climb ladders in Dynasty Warriors 6 and it was hella clunky & slowed the entire fight down stopping to latch & crawl up the ladder.
I'm highly skeptical what with the limited info this is giving about how the new stuff works. The ninja hook thing would have to be something akin to Link's hookshots for it to be fun, and even then, stopping your attacks to aim something upward could still be annoying if it was not implemented well. And what was wrong with DW7's massive maps? It took a good while to run around them, they were fairly varied, and I cannot recall any in particular that stood out as lame. I worry that any "open world" short of something the size of a Monolith Soft RPG world would be in some serious need of focus & quality control compared to DW7's epic maps. |
